November 14 to January 18 Violins of Hope: The book Violins of Hope tells the remarkable stories of violins played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust, and of the Israeli violinmakers, Amnon and Avshalom Weinstein, dedicated to bringing these inspirational instruments back to life. On Sunday, January 6, 2019, Hank Bitterman will present a program on his father, Holocaust Survivor Mayer Bitterman. Mayer Bitterman worked with Oskar Schindler from 1943 – August 1944, before his factory closed and moved to the Czech Republic. A skilled worker, Bitterman was sent to Mauthausen, where he met Simon Wiesenthal. After the war he helped Wiesenthal with the testimony against the former Mauthausen guards in War Trials in Dachau.
