The Headquarters Branch Library will host The Holocaust Museum & Education Center of Southwest Florida’s travelling Boxcar Exhibit from April 30th to May 14th. On May 2 at 10am, Holocaust Survivor Pieter Kohnstam will speak of his family’s WWII escape to avoid persecution by the Nazi regime. They left Nuremberg, Germany, for Amsterdam, where they lived in the same apartment complex as Anne Frank’s family. Anne Frank babysat for Pieter before her family went into hiding. Peter’s family escaped The Netherlands and began a year-long journey to safety across wartime Europe to Spain and eventually made it to Argentina. Pieter immigrated to the United States in 1963, and he and his wife live in Venice FL.
