On Sunday, February 17, USHMM Historian and Research and Reference Specialist Dr. Jude Richter will discuss the International Tracing Service (ITS). His presentation will cover the origins of the ITS, the types of data bases used, and research methodology. There will be plenty of time for audience Q&A following the presentation. The ITS records are in some 25 different languages and contain millions of names, many with multiple spellings. Many of the records are entirely handwritten. In cases where forms were used, the forms are written in German and the entries are often handwritten in another language.
