Hollywood’s Who’s Who in World War II

Summer 2014

Naples, FL – The Holocaust Museum & Education Center of Southwest Florida announces a cool new exhibit for the hot summer months.

“Hollywood’s Who’s Who in World War II” highlights the wartime contributions and experiences of many popular personalities from the entertainment, sports and music fields. On display through August 16th, the exhibit features unique photographs and artifacts, plus little-known facts about famous stars and legends.  The Museum is also screening two World War II recruitment films featuring Jimmy Stewart and Clark Gable. Filmed on location during the war, some footage depicts Gable in action, serving on a flight crew.

This is an original exhibit created by the Museum, with several artifacts from our archives and collections.  The Museum of Military Memorabilia in Naples also lent display material. Actual wartime copies of the Stars and Stripes military newspapers, a set of boxing gloves used by a soldier who was unfortunately later killed in the war and military uniforms are some of the items on display.

People from all walks of life, including the “pop” stars of the day, contributed to the Allied victory.

Discover who served on the front lines, and who was a bomber pilot. Learn who survived a concentration camp, who was an Olympian and who was a spy. You will be surprised at what you find out about people you thought you knew!
