After Italy was liberated by the Allies, 982 refugees from 18 war-torn countries fled the Nazi terror in Europe during the Holocaust. In 1944, they sailed to the safety of America as guests of the  U.S. government. The Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Center in Oswego, NY became their home for the next eighteen months.

Visit the Museum in February to learn about this element of WWII/Holocaust history through a traveling exhibit from the Safe Haven Museum and Education Center in Oswego, NY.
