“Bella Altura was born in a small town in Germany, a Jewish girl in a proper Jewish home. Her childhood was happy until the Nazis ransacked here home in the middle of the night of November 9, 1938. Unlike many of her neighbors, Altura’s family was able to elude the concentration camps by wandering through Belgium and France, ending up in Switzerland where her parents were placed in internment camps and she in various foster homes. They endured a decade of fear before finally immigrating to America.” ~ press release from Page Publishing, Inc.
Join us at the Holocaust Museum to hear from Bella about here experiences as a young girl in World War II.
